2025 Norfolk Person of the Year

Thank You for Voting! The Norfolk Community League extends a huge thank you to everyone who participated in voting for the 2025 NCL Person of the Year. This year’s response was incredible, with more than 200 votes cast.

Nomination

If the measure of the NCL Person of the Year is making Norfolk a better place as well as having a significant impact on the community, there is no better candidate than Kendra Bixby. Throughout her years at the Norfolk Community League, she has driven some of the biggest community-building events here in town, doing everything in her power to help bring neighbors together in fun and exciting ways. Whether it was the Haunted Train Ride, Easter Breakfast, or Winter Artisan & Craft Festival, they have all become staples in our core memories of the town. I dare anyone to scan through their photos from holidays with young kids or fundraisers with friends and not find a NCL hosted event. But that isn’t where her commitment to the betterment of this community stops. She has also seized the opportunity to step in where help is needed most. Between volunteer capacities for local fundraisers in support of families in need or providing assistance to other local organizations seeking to tap into her unmatched experience in successful community events, she has truly embodied “the answer is yes, what is the question?” approach to selfless service. The best thing about Kendra is that throughout all of this tireless work and time spent to benefit others, she has actively avoided any sort of recognition or kudos, instead choosing to lift up others around her. Well, as much as she may hate every moment of it, I strongly believe that she is more than deserving of this honor and eagerly look forward to reciprocating just a fraction of what she has given to this town over the years.
